Andrea Bertolini is an assistant professor of private law at the Dirpolis Institute of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Pisa (SSSA) and adjunct professor in private law at the University of Pisa Department of Economics and Business. His research heavily rests on a comparative and law and economics approach. Since 2015, he is the coordinator of a project aimed at developing new liability models for advanced bionic limbs and exoskeletons (‘RELIABLE’), financed by the Italian Ministry of Research, and of a Jean Monnet Module entitled ‘Europe Regulates Robotics’, offering a wide range of graduate and Ph.D courses in law and robotics. Gian Diego Pini


Competition/Antitrust Lawyer at Skadden, Arps and Adjunct Professor of Law, Bocconi University

Gian Diego Pini works for Skadden Arps in Brussels and serves as an adjunct professor of antitrust law at Bocconi University. He specializes in EU, international and Italian antitrust and competition law, including multi-jurisdictional cartel investigations, merger control proceedings, abuse of dominance cases and antitrust litigation.  He also advises corporations on the antitrust aspects of joint ventures and cooperation agreements, license, supply and distribution agreements, rebates, compliance programs and damages claims.

Dr. Pini graduated in law with the highest honors from Bocconi University and holds a Ph.D. in IP and Competition Law at the University of Milan.  He completed part of his studies at the ESADE University of Barcelona (as a Themis fellow) and at the University of California, Berkeley (as a visiting scholar). He is a qualified lawyer and a member of the Milan and Brussels bars.

Prior to joining Skadden, he worked for several years at an Italian and an American international law firms, and in the financial services unit of the Directorate General for Competition of the European Commission.

Diana Calciu


Diana Calciu is a senior associate in the EU Regulatory & Competition law department of international business law firm GIDE. Her first hand knowledge of EU substantive law and procedures enables her to advise and represent clients on a wide variety of aspects of EU competition and internal market law ranging from digital technology, infrastructure financing, energy, state aid, antitrust, data protection.
Her current practice has a strong focus on advising large technology and e-commerce companies on how to tackle public barriers to competition.
